Welcome to my internet home, my home away from home! My caviary, aptly named Spiritridge Farms, is about 15 minutes due east of Seattle, across Lake Washington in the city of Bellevue. I began in the world of cavies when my daughter was 4 and joined a 4h group that her baby sitter, Susanne belonged to... that was 22 years ago! The flower girl at my wedding, Cambria Horne was who really got me to grab at the White Cresteds and broken Americans. She is who I owe a great deal of my early stock & learning from. It was a few years later that I switched to tortoise shell and white Americans, my main true love. Over the next few years my daughter got into showing and then it became obvious that I was smitten. Well, addicted is more like it. I never had a cavy as a kid, so I missed out on a lot of fun! I had a lot of catching up to do. I became an ARBA Licensed Cavy Registrar, and 3 years ago, a licensed Cavy Judge. I am also the District 1 & Membership Chairperson for the ACBA. I organize our State Convention and help put on the cavy part of the Judge's Conference. I travel rather extensively in my District, attending & judging many shows in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, and even Alaska, as well as outside my District. I have been to shows in Indiana, Michigan, California, Arizona, Colorado, as well as England. I occasionally write articles for cavy magazines, or newsletters. I head a few different internet groups pertaining to cavies, such as one for White Cresteds, and one for the Pacific Northwest area in general.
As far as what do I do when I am not doing cavies? Well, I am employed as a Nanny and sometimes Household Manager/Cook/Taxi Driver.
Thanks for coming to visit!
